The class “Nuclear Issues Through the Translation of Hibakusha Accounts” is taught by two members of NET-GTAS (https://netgtas.com/), Hiroshi Takahashi (Associate Professor, Journalism) and Kenji Hasegawa (Associate Professor, History). The class examines Japan’s experiences surrounding nuclear issues including Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Bikini, and Fukushima. In the first half of the class, students learn about nuclear issues through a series of guest lectures. In the second half, they participate in a translation project of hibakusha testimonies. The two instructors look forward to seeing students deepen their understandings of the atomic bombings and nuclear issues.
